CNN-IBN TV announced that the internationally acclaimed Indian painter Mr MF Hussain, 95, died at the Royal Brompton hospital in London today following a serious illness. Maqbool Fida Husain was admitted to the hospital a few days ago following a serious illness, the channel said quoting his friend Arun Vadehra. It did not give any details of his illness.
Hussain has been living in self imposed exile for the last 6 years in Dubai after he faced flak from the Hindu groups for painting a woman nude in shape of India.
Husain’s paintings fetched him millions of dollars and even his simple pencil sketches continued to be status symbols for may affluent Indian families.
