The CBI, investigating the 2G spectrum scam, today informed the Supreme Court that it would file the charge sheet in the court on March 31 against the main accused Mr A. Raja, former telecom minister.
The CBI informed the division bench consisting of Justices G.S. Singhvi and Asok Kumar Ganguly that the charge sheet would also cover the conspiracy angle in the scam. “We will file the main charge sheet on March 31 against Raja. A supplementary charge sheet covering the other beneficiaries will be filed later on,” the CBI told the court.
The highest court of the land has asked the government to set up a special court by March 29 to try cases arising out of the 2G spectrum scandal and directed the CBI to suggest the special public prosecutor to lead the prosecution in the case by that date.
The court also said that attempts by individuals, organizations, groups to influence the investigating agencies, if any, will be viewed very seriously.
