Shankar Dixit, Actress Madhuri Dixit's father, has passed away after a prolonged illness. He live more than nine decades and passed away in his sleep on Friday morning. As his situated deteriorated slowly, the family was present right by his side. Madhuri, who is 46 now, is visibly devastated, but expressed that her father lived a full life. Madhuri has been excused from judging Jhalak Dikhlaja, keeping in mind her loss. The show's finale is scheduled for this weekend. Last Friday, we saw Ram Charan and Priyanka Chopra starrer "Zanjeer" and Parineeti Chopra and Sushant Singh Rajput starrer "Shuddh Desi Romance" take it head on at the box-office. And, as predicted, it's the breezy romance that seems to clearly emerge as the box-office favorite over theweekend. While Maneesh Sharma's “Shuddh Desi Romance” netted Rs.23.27 crore on its first weekend, Apoorva Lakhia's “Zanjeer” proved to be quite a dud with a mere collection of just Rs.10.16 crore in the first week. While SDR started off to a lukewarm response, it caught up on Saturday and Sunday, while Zanjeer started out well, but lost out over the weekend. Trade Analyst Taran Adarsh tweeted: “Priyanka's Zanjeer, made on a budget of Rs.70 crore, got panned by the critics and audience while Shuddh Desi Romance, that was made on a budget of Rs.30 crore, impressed critics and audience for its fresh cast and storyline.” Parineeti Chopra is ecstatic by the success. "When I read the script I was sure that this is going to be a very entertaining film. I was happy that Maneesh and Adi (Aditya Chopra from YRF) offered me this film because after 'Ishaqzaade' I wanted to do something different and 'Shuddh Desi Romance' clicked," Parineeti said . "It has released and people are liking it, the reviews are good and all the performances and Jaideep (Sahni, scriptwriter) and Maneesh's work is being appreciated. However, their comeback movie will be a far cry from romance, it seems. Apparently, the stars will make their big-screen return together with Anees Bazmee's slapstick sequel “Welcome Back.” Producer Firoz Nadiadwala and director Anees Bazmee are reportedly in talks with Bachchan and Rekha for the sequel of their 2007 hit 'Welcome'. Big B has been offered the role of RDX-- formerly played by late actor Feroz Khan, while Rekha has been offered the role of a wealthy fashionista. Apparently, Emraan Hashmi has stalled Kunal Deshmukh's next film “Shatir”, despite being casted with a heroine of his choice. Says a source, “Initially the film was supposed to go on the floors six months ago. Emraan just couldn’t match his dates with the rest of the crew. He kept offering different dates and cited his other projects and commitments. It kept pushing the film back. Kunal even agreed to wait in order to rope in Humaima Malick, who the actor wanted as his co-star. But a film can’t take off without its hero.” Initially, a lot of time was wasted in auditioning for actresses. A crewmember states, “Pooja Chopra auditioned along with many newbies but we were not able to get back to any of them. Some of them even vented their displeasure at us. Shah Rukh Khan seems to be losing out on his friends fast! First Salman, then Arjun and now Priyanka! Apparently, Piggy Chops has been giving King Khan a cold shoulder of late, for reasons best known to the actor. We got a wind of things recently after PC decided to host a screening of her animation movie “Planes”, which releases today, for her B-Town buddies. Among those are pals Hrithik Roshan, Ranveer Singh, Shahid Kapoor, Illeana D’Cruz, Kunal Kohli, Anurag Basu, Ranbir Kapoor and Anushka Sharma. Quite apparently, good friend Shah Rukh's name didn't feature anywhere in the list. So does it mean another Bollywood camaraderie has gone kaput? Well, this isn't the only instance. Earlier, SRK stayed away from conveying birthday wishes to Piggy Chops even while the entire B-town took to Twitter to wish the actor. The film gives an appearance of a low-budget biopic regarding the Hindu monk as well as thinker. The new film releasing on August 23, happens to be a bilingual in Hindi and Bengali directed by Utpal Sinha. It stars actor Deep Bhattacharya in the title role who appeared convincing in the role. Yet the film’s trailer seems sticky to the touch, accompanying a feeling that many of the important scenes have been shot on a Chroma key background. Accompanied by low production values, its spiritual content is the only thing that will save it at the box office. There would be a hope that the film does justice to the Swami’s life. In fact, there was a special screening of The Light: Swami Vivekananda for Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi at the same time he was known to have uphold the film.
