Noted actor and theatre artiste J V Ramanamurthy (83) passed away in Hyderabad on Wednesday. He had not been well for some time and was under treatment at a private Hospital. Ramanamurthy is the brother of J V Somayajulu of Sankarabharanam fame. Ramanamurthy had acted in over 150 films.
In the initial stages, Ramanamurthy played the roles of a hero, but later became popular as a character artist. He is also a well- known stage artiste. Some of the important pictures in which he acted were Akali Rajyam, Marocharithra, Sapthapadi and many other films.
He was born on May 20, 1933 in Vizianagaram District. He started acting in plays during his school days. He got the best performance award for "Vishwa Shanti" in inter-university Competition. He acted in many plays such as N.G.O., Evaru Donga, Kappalu, Natakam, Keerthi Seshulu, Kaala Rathri, Phani and Katamraju Katha.
His most notable performance was Gireesham in Kanyasulkam by Gurjada Appa Rao. Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu and Information and Public Relations Minister Palle Raghunatha Rao expressed their condolences over the death of Ramanamurthy.
