Oopiri is not a remake- Karthi

While Oopiri is all scheduled for a grand release on March 25th, Kollywood hero, Karthi is now sharing some interesting information about the film.

Though Karthi’s earlier Tamil movies got dubbed into Telugu and even attained good success, Oopiri can be considered as his first direct Telugu film.

Speaking about the film, the Kollywood turned Tollywood’s actor said, “I'm glad I got opportunity to do straight Telugu film with Oopiri. Few films bring commercial success, few bring mass image but very few films bring respect to actors. Oopiri is such film that get respect to all of us.”

By now, it is a well known fact that Oopiri is a remake of a Hollywood film, “The Intouchables”. But Karthi said that several changes have been made to the script and would appear new.

“It's better to say it as an adaptation rather than calling a remake. There're 50-odd new scenes and the treatment, dialogues are fresh. So, it's not a remake. The film is adapted well to suit the tastes of regional audiences and director Vamshi did a great job,” Karthi said.

Saying that Nagarjuna has treated him as his own brother, Karthi said, “Though he keep calling me brother, he treated me like a king. Whenever I'm in Annapurna Studios, I got royal treatment. I feel like staying in home.”
