The stage was set in Labasa Fiji, for the International Film Festival which is to be held for over two weeks under the partnered supervision of the Indian High Commission and the organizers were the Fiji National University and Film Fiji.
Kahaani, the Vidya Balan starrer was named the Best Film in the film festival, bringing honor and accolades for the work from our nation.
The film festival opened with a screening of the movie, the Indian High Commission mentioned. Only 125 of the 250 films that were nominated for the screening were selected in the festival at several cities.
Out of many international and Indian films and documentaries, Kahaani has won the hearts of several people as it emerged the Best Film.
Rajkumar Hirani was selected the Best Director for his exceptional work in Three Idiots, starring Aamir Khan who is now shooting for Dhoom 3 as a villain for the first time. A special Jury Best Film award was given to Kumavatara, Directed by Girish Kasarawalli and best Documentary Film was given to Urban Ox by AK Bir.
Nirvana and Beyond directed by Juhi Sinha received the best Short Film award. The Film festival featured several films from the international basket of French, Russian, Middle Eastern films, Bollywood blockbusters and Bengali classics as well.
