Dravid wants Dhoni to play at No. 6

With all his experience former Indian Captain, Rahul Dravid has said that Indian team needs Skipper Mahendra Singh Dhoni to come up for batting at number six which would bring a fine balance to the team if he did so consistently.

The Indian skipper who prefers to play at 7 made a diligent decision to come up at six, after two years since the last time, and played a magnificent innings of 224. This knock was crucial in deciding the game which ended as an easy win for India.

Earlier he batted at the same number two years ago against South Africa in Nagpur. Of the 116 test innings he played, he featured only 17 times including the latest stint playing at number six.

Dravid has a point asking him to come at six consistently because, there is another all rounder who could save the team after his dismissal instead of bringing the morale of the team lower than the Marina Trench. He could also have not much pressure because of a strong batsman right before him allowing him to score freely.

Though the former cap'n doesn't expect a double century knock every innings, he opines Dhoni could contribute better knocks to the game almost every innings. But he added, “There is nothing like scoring runs and winning as a captain, you need that reinforcement and this innings will be an reinforcement".
