Australia had a quick start and a quicker fall at the beginning of the day. Later on they succumbed to Ravichandran Ashwin, the only performer on the Indian bowling attack today, and landed themselves in neck deep trouble. Just as the Indians were hoping to drown the opponents, debutant Henriques and skipper Michael Clarke saved Australia from a debacle with their 100 partnership for the day. Australia finished the day with 312 on the charts and three wickets in hand.
Respectable performances were seen from David Warner, Henriques and the skipper Clarke himself who scored a century. Ravichandran Ashwin who was the magic man with the ball managed to claim six wickets to his name with a great economy rate also waned away at the end of the day with poor line and lengths. At the end of the day two quick wickets, helped calm down the Aussies in aggressive form.
Finally it is Australia who are on top after the first day with a decent score on a gradually waning pitch. This score would be hard to beat if the fast Australian bowling attack is more than decent. Will the Indians pick up the remaining wickets to go to the game earlier and score runs off the bat?
