The second and third day of this 17 day sports carnival, London Olympics 2012, was filled with activity and as usual every body concerned was busy with their activities. After the splendid opening ceremony on on Friday the entertainment part was only watching the events and participating in their awarding ceremonies which were also brief.  London Olympics 2012 was a moment of pride for most participants and a dream come true to all.

US had some rejoicing moment on Saturaday, Dana Vollmer had a triumphant return to the Olympics, setting a world record to win the 100 butterfly in 55.98 seconds. And Michael Phelps moved closer to becoming the most decorated Olympian in history. An American silver in the 400-meter freestyle relay gave Phelps 17 medals for his career – 14 golds, a silver and two bronzes. Kimberly Rhode's gold in women's skeet shooting made her the first American to take an individual-sport medal in five consecutive Olympics.

For the hosts the honours were by cyclist Elizabeth Armitstead who won the first medal of the games for the Britain. This takes the road race silver in a rain-drenched dash to the finish line just behind Marianne Vos of the Netherlands.

For the Chinese, divers He Zi and Wu Minxia won the women's synchronized 3-meter springboard, and Guo Wenjun won the women's 10-meter air pistol to give the country a total of six golds and 12 medals overall. The United States is second in total medals with 11.

For the Indians Saina, rated one of India's best bets for an Olympic medal, outclassed Switzerland's Sabrina Jaquet in straight games in a women's singles group match. The World No.5, a quarter finalist at the Beijing Games, won 21-9, 21-4 in 24 minutes at the Wembley Arena. In men's boxing, Jai Bhagwan pulverised Seychelles' Andrique Allisop 18-8 in the opening round of the 60 kg category.

On Monday the most watched event form the Indian Perspective would be the men's doubles matches involving Leander Paes and Vishnu Vardhan, and Mahesh Bhupathi and Rohan Bopanna had to be postponed to Monday after a wet day at the All England Club.Lets see how they fare after all those controversies.
