The fifth season of the ongoing Indian Premier League is pulling in more surprises than any Bollywood thriller. The second play off was played on Wednesday at the M A Chinnaswami Stadium Bengaluru, between Chennai Super Kings and Mumbai Indians. Chennai Skipper Capatain Cool M S Dhoni stole the match from the hands of the opponent with his magnificent batting. There is a sentiment in India that 'if Dhoni reaches final, he bid his entire luck to win,' seems to be right atleast yesterday. Dhoni’s immaculate 51 runs in 20 balls with 6 boundaries and two sixes made a mighty difference as the Chennai team posted a total of 187/5. Chennai batted first after Mumbai won the toss and elected to field.
Chennai came on to bat with a huge dismissal of M Vijay and Suresh Raina, in the second over when the score was 1 for 2 wickets. The team made a turnaround at this dilapidated stage and the third wicket fell only at 95 runs. Hussey scored 49 and Badrinath scored 47 runs to post the mammoth total.
Mumbai with a target of 188 to attain fumbled in the beginning. With a huge score to reach the Mumbai succumbed to pressure and Sachin the master blaster scored only 11 runs. Dwayne Smith scored 38 runs like a mirage in the desert, as the rest were out after just mere scores. In the end Mumbai wound up at 149/4 lagging much behind Chennai. Chennai right royally claimed the honors and will now play against Delhi. Dhoni received the Man of the Match honors that was befitting for his meticulous score. (With Inputs from Internet- Aarkay)
