Not just Bollywood but even political personalities have extended their support to the Bollywood actor and IPL franchise Kolkata Knight Riders co-owner, Shahrukh Khan. West Bengal chief minister Mamata Banerjee has supported the actor after the news came in stating that SRK was banned from Wankade Stadium in Mumbai for five years.
She has asked Mumbai Cricket Association to reconsider their decision. She said this to the reporters when asked on her opinion on ban. Mamata Banerjee said the people love Sachin as well as Shahrukh and the latter was their (West Bengal) brand ambassador. She, however, stated that it was a sensitive issue and asked the media not to distort her statement.
Another politician who supported Shahrukh Khan was RJD chief Lalu Prasad Yadav. He has said that the Indian Premier League should be closed. Lalu has also stated that a few security personnel present over there alleged worked in favour of certain political parties.
Meanwhile, the union law minister Salman Khurshid has termed the entire episode at Wankade Stadium as unfortunate. However, the government cannot interfere in all matters, he added.
We have to wait and watch whether the Mumbai Cricket Association will reconsider its decision as Mamata Banerjee appealed. When politics interfere with games, the essence of sport will be lost! (Phani)
