`Leave retirement to Sachin’: Imran K

Imran Khan, legendary Pakistani cricketer, a world class winner who gifted the country with a World cup, is ever honored across the cricketing worlds.  With his multi faceted persona and activity, he has achieved the rare distinction of being acknowledged even by non cricketing world. The legend was at Kolkata book fair on Monday and took some time from his hectic schedule to talk to media. On cricket he felt this was not the right time for master blaster Sachin Tendulkar to retire after the white wash at Australia. He said the great batsman must be given his own time to choose ideal for retirement.

`We all want to go with a big bang but you always don't get it right. For Sachin the ultimate time to go was after that World Cup win. He had such a great World Cup. He is a great player,’ said Imran. Adding, `He has to decide for himself and the timing must be right. You don't want to go after losing to Australia for 4-0. If he had gone after that world cup….. that would have been the ultimate high.’

About the long pending 100th 100 from the master blaster, Imran said, `You should not be playing to break records. Records should be part of the win. Sachin is a great player…records are after all statistics and statistics do not matter to great players.(With inputs from internet-AarKay)
