ICC framing charges against Ponting

Ricky Ponting, code of conduct for players, damaging LCD television setThe ICC (International Cricket Conference) is busy framing charges against the Australian skipper Ricky Ponting for damaging an LCD television set worth Rs. 35, 000 with his bat in the dressing room at Motera Stadium in Ahmadabad after he was run out for 28 in the group A league match against Zimbabwe on Monday.

It may be mentioned that Ponting, angry and enraged at his run out by a direct hit from Chris Mpofu in the World Cup one day international match, went to his dressing room and smashed the LCD television with his bat as it showed the repeated visuals of his run out.

The Gujarat Cricket Association (GCA) refused the apologies tendered by Ponting for the incident and lodged a complaint to the BCCI (Board of Control for Cricket in India) which in turn forwarded the complaint to the ICC.

ICC spokesman Colin Gibson told journalists in Mumbai this afternoon that they have received the complaint and will frame charges against Ponting. “The behaviour of Ponting is a clear violation of code of conduct for players,” he confirmed.
