Oz plan big totals to pull up a fast one against India

The Australians turning on the blues, to the men in blue (India). India was fading in all departments, ready to succumb meekly to the host’s dominance.

In the second test between the Australians and India at the Sydney Cricket Ground, on the Day-2, India is struggling and Australia is shining. In a nutshell the hosts plan to post a big total and end up winding the match with a victory, without the necessity to bat in the second innings. The much criticized Ricky Ponting has struck excellent form in the series and has had a splendid day today at Sydney. He along with his captain are batting thunderously defying the young Indian bowlers of any attack. The Australians are 307/3 in 75 overs, leading the visitors by 191 runs.

The only bowler who could do some damage to the hosts was Zaheer Khan who got all the three wickets. At the crease Michael Clarke is on 144 and Ponting on 127 at the moment, doing a great job for the team. With another 40 overs to be bowled today the hosts might post a total of 450+ total and with a lead of 250+.  This might, as per the present stats be tough for Team India.  In either case a defeat for the visitors or a draw is the result expected, at the moment, but in cricket result is unpredictable.

The Indians who won the toss, elected to bat. But they failed to fire as the top order collapsed. Sachin on 41 and Dhoni on 57 are only the highlights of the Indian batting on Day-1. The damage was done by James Pattinson who claimed 4 wickets, while Ben Hilfenhaus and Peter Siddle shared three each. The guests scored 191 runs in the first innings. (AarKay)
