Sania, Vesnina win BNP Paribas Tennis Open

SaniaIndia’s unseeded tennis queen Sania Mirza and her Russian partner Elena Vesnina won the women's doubles title at the 2011 BNP Paribas Tennis Open held in California on Sunday. They defeated the eighth-seeded Americans Bethanie Mattek-Sands and Meghann Shaughnessy 6-0, 7-5.

Sania and Vesnina became the fourth unseeded pair to win the title. The first unseeded pair to win the title was Vesnina and Russian Dinara Safina who won in 2008. The other two unseeded pairs to win the BNP Paribas Tennis Open title were Victoria Azarenka and Vera Zvonareva, and Kveta Peschke and Katarina Srebotnik who won in 2009 and 2011 respectively.

Sania won 10 doubles titles and Vesnina won four till now. Both the players now hope to bring their form back in the singles titles too.
