Study says Mars water is still trapped underground:- A study says that a significant portion of water on Mars between 30 and 99 percent in trapped with minerals in the crust. The research is published in the Journal Science and it challenges the theory that says that the water on Mars escaped into the space. A research team of the California Institute of Technology (Caltech) and NASA's Jet Propulsion Laboratory (JPL) participated in the study. This was found four billion years ago and Mars was a home to water. The planet was covered with water about 1000-1500 meters deep. This volume is equal to half of th Atlantic Ocean on the earth.
Billions of years ago, according to geological evidence, water flowed across Mars & collected into pools, lakes, & oceans. New research shows a substantial quantity of the water — between 30 and 99% — is trapped within minerals in the planet’s crust: https://t.co/8LVttL7jqt pic.twitter.com/T9CRsUAbIb

A billion years later, Mars is left with no water and is almost dry. The scientists tried to explain about the flowing water on Mars and they predict that it escaped completely into the space. Some of the water left Mars in this way. The scientists say that there is no chance for an atmospheric escape of water as per the report from Eva Scheller, a PhD candidate at Caltech, USA. The team also conducted a detailed study about the forms of water (liquid, vapour and ice) on Mars. The study also said that there is a huge reservoir of ancient hydrated minerals on Mars.
