With the huge hatred developed against the Chinese products after a series of incidents, several tech giants and manufacturing biggies are moving their manufacturing units to India to make their business safe. The Minister for Commerce and Industry, Piyush Goyal confirmed that Apple will manufacture iPhone 11 in India. He said that the manufacturing of iPhone 11 already began in the Chennai's Foxconn plant recently. "Significant boost to Make in India! Apple has started manufacturing iPhone 11 in India, bringing a top-of-the-line model for the first time in the country" posted Piyush Goyal's office.
The production of iPhone 11 will happen in phases. This is to minimize the dependence on China. Apple is also in plans to slash down the prices of iPhone 11 in India as they would be saving 22% on the improt duty of the product as it would be manufactured in India. Apple is also considering to manufacture iPhone SE in Bengaluru's Wistron plant. Apple already manufactured iPhone XR and iPhone 7 in Chennai.
India turned out to be an important smartphone vendor market. Samsung, Xiaomi are already manufacturing their smartphones in the country. Apple is the latest one to join the list.
