Lenovo soon to overtake HP in the race to become largest PC maker

China based Lenovo Group Ltd is very close to the current leader in the PC sales, Hewlett Packard Co and is speculated to out run the latter soon this year. This would make it the first ever Chinese company to be the numero uno of any international technology sector.

This would exemplify the development of China's technology firms on the global level in the past few years with extremely successful marketing tactics like aggresive pricing, many acquisitions overseas and correctly identifying the potential in the home market.

The market share however clearly has an impact on the profit margins. This would be a factor they should think about considering the competition in the tablet pc sector and a poor PC market.

Lenovo has become the largest seller of PC's only next to HP in the third quarter of 2011. Today according to the April June quarted this year it has a 14.9 per cent global share which is only 0.6 percent lesser than the market leader HP which is at 15.5 per cent as revealed by IDC's latest statistics. Gartner's figures show an even closer competition with a difference of only 0.2 percent.

Huawei technologies, another China based company, is the second best maker of telecom equipment and was expected to surpass Ericsson, by Sweden, in the 2011 sales. However, it didnt happen as Huawei had hard time entering the already cramped handset market in the US.
