The India based mobile manufacturer, Micromax has unveiled the X259 today. This mobile phone is powered by Solar energy and has a solar panel inside the unit. Priced at Rs 2,499, this is the first solar phone produced by the company.
With the help of the inbuilt solar panel, the phone gets charged automatically when it is exposed to sunlight. The phone majorly targets the rural customers who face never ending power cuts everyday. Micromax has claimed that the phone would be sufficiently charged in 3 hours of exposure to sun to provide a talktime of 1.5 hours.
This model from Micromax, X259 also has an attractive 2.4-inch QVGA screen that supports a resolution of 240x320p to display vibrant colors, and is backed by a 1000mAh Li-ion battery. As with most mobiles from the company it also has dual-SIM dual-standby feature. Bluetooth connectivity is also available.
"We have been the pioneers of innovation introducing numerous mobiles in several segments like long battery life phones or Dual sim mobiles. We intend to eliminate the use of chargers by intorducing this mobile with an inbuilt solar panel," stated Rahul Sharma, co-founder, Micromax.
