Wondered why these big companies are recognized by their logos, they make their logos as their brand ambassadors and that makes them so prominent.
The recent Microsoft logo released with its windows 8 sparked off after a question by a leading designer. The designer questioned the prestigious computer pioneer, “your name is Windows. Why are you a flag?" eventually the questioner was design agency Pentagram, who was eventually hired for the job. The latest only shows the four panel window ideally suited for the name. The incident was briefed by Microsoft's Sam Moreau in a post on the official Windows blog.
Microsoft also notes that the logo is "authentically digital," and says it will welcome you with a slight tilt and change color based on your desktop. Windows 8 is a complete re-imagination of the Windows operating system. Nothing has been left unexplored, including the Windows logo, to evaluate how it held up to modern PC sensibilities.
