Revanth Reddy to take oath as CM Tomorrow:- Telangana Congress chief Revanth Reddy has been announced as the next chief minister of the southern state, as confirmed by the party on Tuesday. Congress general secretary KC Venugopal made the announcement during a press briefing, stating that Reddy's swearing-in ceremony will take place on December 7. Prominent Congress leaders including Sonia Gandhi, Rahul Gandhi, and Priyanka Gandhi are expected to attend the ceremony at LB Stadium tomorrow. Reddy played a crucial role in the party's landslide victory in the recent assembly elections and was instrumental in leading the winning campaign for Congress in Telangana. The Congress party achieved a historic win by defeating the ruling Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) government led by K Chandrasekhar Rao, securing 64 seats and surpassing the majority mark. The BRS secured 38 seats, while the BJP improved its 2018 tally by winning eight seats. The All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) secured seven seats, and the CPI managed to win one seat. Congress MLAs pick Revanth Reddy for CM's post: High Command to Announce:- According to party sources, the majority of newly-elected Congress MLAs in Telangana expressed their preference for A Revanth Reddy, the state Congress president, to be the chief minister. The Congress high command is expected to reveal their decision on Tuesday. The swearing-in of the new government is anticipated to occur on Wednesday, with the party considering the appointment of one or two deputy chief ministers. Earlier in the day, the newly elected MLAs gathered in Hyderabad and unanimously authorized the Congress president to determine the new Congress Legislature Party leader. The AICC observers, including senior leaders and ministers from Karnataka, individually met with the MLAs to hear their opinions. While many MLAs favored Revanth Reddy, others deferred the decision to the high command. The party is also contemplating the appointment of one or two deputy CMs to ensure a balanced representation of castes. The Mala (SC) community is represented by Senior MLA Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka, who currently serves as the CLP leader. Cyclone Michaung to landfall in Andhra Pradesh:- At 11:30 a.m. on December 5, the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) reported that the severe cyclonic storm Michaung, located over the west central Bay of Bengal and along the south coastal region of Andhra Pradesh, had moved northwards at a speed of 10 km/hr over the past six hours. According to the IMD bulletin issued at 12:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Michaung is expected to continue moving in a northward direction and make landfall near Bapatla on the south Andhra Pradesh coast within the next two hours. It is anticipated to hit as a severe cyclonic storm with maximum sustained wind speeds of 90 to 100 km/hr. The landfall process is currently underway and is projected to persist for the next three hours. The impact of Cyclone Michaung has had repercussions for air travelers in Hyderabad. As of Tuesday morning, a total of 16 flights, both departing from and arriving at Rajiv Gandhi International Airport (RGIA) in Hyderabad, have been cancelled. To assess the situation brought about by Cyclone Michaung, the Union Home Minister has reached out to Puducherry Chief Minister N. Rangasamy and Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin. Heavy rains and strong winds caused by the cyclone have affected multiple regions. As a result, Tamil Nadu has declared a public holiday in four districts, while eight districts in Andhra Pradesh are on high alert.
