Micronutrient deficiencies account for 7.3% of the global burden of any disease. One third of the people in the world have deficit in iron, iodine and vitamin A. These are the three most common forms of micronutrient malnutrition.
Less than one in 10 children aged six months to 23 months in India gets an adequate diet. This is as per the data released by National Family Health Survey 4 (2015-16). The nutritional intake of the children is adequate in 11.6% of urban kids and 8.8% in rural children. One third of children are underweight which includes 29% urban children.
