Steve Smith, the new captain

Australia's middle order batsmen Steve Smith has been named as the stand-in captain for Australia and he will be leading the team in the second Test against India. Skipper Micheal Clarke is still struggling with serious hamstring injury and also his career is in doubt because of it. Though he has been working on it, the injury is turning out be severe.

Steve Smith has played 23 Test for the side and he is in superb form this season. He also slammed century against India in the first  Test. Wicket-Keeper Brad Haddin is named Smith's deputy. George Bailey has called in place of Clarke but the ODI captain is unlikely to make it to the playing Eleven.
