West Bengal chief minister Mamata Banerjee said that her party Trinamool Congress will consider to form alliance with her long time rival CPI[M] party in case if BJP gets strength in her state. Mamata made these statements congratulating Nitish Kumar and Lalu Prasad Yadav for their victory in the Bihar by-elections.
However, Mamata defended her statements saying, “I have never said that but if such proposal comes then party will discuss and take a decision.” She also added that she doesn't mind people calling her a 'Leftist,' which officially belongs to the Left parties. Clarifying, Mamata said she would never join hands with communal forces like the BJP.
