The Supreme Court of India on Thursday said leader of Opposition issue can't be prolonged and Union government has to come up with a solution as early as possible. “The LoP is very important component (under Lokpal law) and needs objective consideration. The issue cannot be prolonged and the act cannot be put in cold storage,” said the Apex Court.
The Supreme postponed this case to September 9 for final hearing and also asked Modi government to reconsider the decision. Lok Sabha Speaker Sumitra Mahajan has declined to grant Congress the Leader of Opposition status in the recently included Parliament sessions and added that Congress party doesn't have enough number. However Sumitra said rules can be changed for recognising the Opposition.
