The men went to the river to catch fish. With the sudden increase in the river's flow due to the heavy rains, they could not do anything but they could climb one of the pillars and wait for help. An Indian Air Force helicopter was immediately pressed into service to rescue the men. Though they could not initially rescue the men, one of the army officials landed on the spot and rescued them. Dramatic visuals from the riverside showed men sitting on the pier and water gushing all around them. The IAF crew member is then seen gesturing to the pilot of the helicopter, after which the men are pulled up to safety.
