What will Kodali Nani do next?

Gudivada MLA Kodali Nani is known to follow his own interests before the Party's. Last year it was TDP, now its YSRCP. Amid rumors of his dissatisfaction with his current status, talk of another switch is making the rounds. Nobody knows how he may stabilize his position, but a change looks imminent.

Nani, or Kodali Sri Venkateswara Rao, had last year used his cunning to jump into Jagan's camp from TDP. This had inevitably upset party president Chandrababu Naidu, who took it upon himself to target betraying party workers. However, not much has happened to harm Nani's position despite his vocal displeasure of Naidu. Subsequently, popular movie star Jr NTR condemned his decision to switch and cut all ties with the MLA.

During those days, Nani was in the midst of gossip that Jr NTR might be a reason for his oust. This was clarified by the actor who said that it is not a reason that made Nani take such a decision. A more practical reason could be his plan to tip scales in his favor in Gudiwada. The Gudivada constituency has a small Kamma community, compared to the number of SCs, whose number make up 44,000. As Jagan's popularity among the strong community rose, Nani took the bait.

He wanted to rise in popularity and power, as is desired by all politicians. Now, the situation seems to have changed. Jagan is in jail with no fixed date of stepping out. Even after Nani tried to strengthen his position by putting out large ads promoting and praising YSR in newspapers, the party in general has increasingly dissatisfied individuals. Nani now fears declining support for YSRCP even as many say that those in the party are being taken for granted after disengaging themselves from the main party.

Whether Nani will return to TDP remains to be seen. Currently, he does not have the privileges and respect of an MLA in addition to being harassed by disgruntled party cadres who he left.
