KCR to Inaugurate Telangana Secretariat on February 17th:- The construction work of the new Secretariat Complex of Telangana is happening at a fast pace. Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao (KCR) will inaugurate the new Secretariat on February 17th marking his birthday. The new secretariat is named as Dr BR Ambedkar who happens to be the Father of Indian Constitution. This happens to be the dream project of KCR and it is spread across 7 lakh sft and the estimated budget of the Secretariat is said to be Rs 600 crores with all the modern facilities and amenities. KCR and his team of ministers will function from the new Secretariat building after the inauguration is completed.
The Telangana Secretariat will have seven floors and the Chief Minister will occupy the top floor of the complex. The first file of appointing a new PRC (Pay Revision Commission) to hike the salaries and pensions for the government employees will be signed by KCR after the inauguration of the new Secretariat. The term of the current PRC will end on June 30th and the new one will come into force from July. KCR never visited the Secretariat from June 2014 as he felt that there are vastu issues in the old building. He always worked from Pragati Bhavan, his camp office in Begumpet. The demolition process started in July 2020 and the cabinet approved the new Secretariat building in August 2020. The foundation stone was laid in June 2021. Several petitions are filed in the High Court calling it a wastage of the public money. After clearing all the hurdles, the demolition process started in December 2020. The construction works got delayed due to Covid-19.
