Supreme Court Calls For A Uniform Fee For Coronavirus Tests:- The Supreme Court questioned about the difference in the prices for the conducted coronavirus tests in different states of the country. The top court asked the Centre to fix an upper limit for these tests. The apex court said that there should be uniformity in the fee for the coronavirus tests. "In some states, the tests are priced at Rs 2200 and in some of the states, they are priced at Rs 4500" questioned the Supreme Court to the Centre. Justices Ashok Bhushan, S K Kaul and M R Shah said that the court will never fix the charges and the court asked the Centre to take care of them. Solicitor General Tushar Mehta who represents the government argued that it would be the states who would decide on the charges.

The Supreme Court told the Centre to fix the upper limit so that the states would fix their price caps. The Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) along with the nodal body of government lifted the price cap of Rs 4500 per test after the prices of the testing kits are dropped. Maharashtra, Uttar Pradesh, Telangana and Delhi brought down the prices of the tests and the other states are yet to revise the price cap. After the infection reached new heights in Delhi, the Union Home Ministry revised the price cap to Rs 2400. UP fixed the price as Rs 2500. Maharashtra which is the worst-hit state fixed the charges as Rs 2200.

India reported the highest number of new coronavirus cases in a day as 13,586 and the total tally reached 3,80,532.
