The consumption of drugs has been coming up everyday and even after the serial attacks by the excise department, it could not be controlled. The recent cases revealed that a wide range of celebrities along with college students have been targeted and they have been made addicted to drugs. The content of drugs will be received from Goa which turned out to be the major hub. Most of the deals happen through social media and majorly through Whatsapp. The Telangana excise department recently warned all the parents to keep checking their children and educate them about the impact of drugs in life.
From the past few years there have been talks that many Tollywood celebrities have been consuming drugs and even several actors, producers too have been arrested in drug mafia. The recent drug racket busted in the city revealed that there are several actors and producers taking drugs on regular basis. The Telangana excise department issued notices to several actors and celebrities of Tollywood involved in drug mafia. Giving them a time of six days, the excise department summoned four directors, three young actors, a fight master and two producers asking them to attend the trail. This is a huge shock for Tollywood.
Movie Artists Association arranged a special press meet to address Tollywood celebrities and workers on drug mafia. They requested Tollywood celebrities, directors, technicians and other daily workers not to consume drugs. They warned that the drug consumption can shatter their families along with their lives. President Sivaji Raja, producers Suresh Babu and Allu Aravind, actors Srikanth and Naresh participated in the pressmeet. Sivaji Raja revealed that because of 15 members in Tollywood, over 30000 have been getting bad name. He even warned them to leave consuming drugs.
Though the names of the celebrities have been kept under wraps, there are talks that they cannot be hidden for much time. With the consumption of drugs going up regularly, the Telangana excise department is keen on conducting thorough regular checks. They are also keen on tracing the calls of the drug dealers and crack the cases. They even have sent notices to several schools and colleges to closely monitor their students about drug mafia. They also asked their teachers to educate the students about the disadvantages of drug mafia.
Producers Allu Aravind and Suresh Babu revealed that the issue of drugs should be taken sensitively and it is the collective responsibility of the industry to prevent it. MAA said that they would take up some initiatives to create awareness among the stars.
