A Class IX student who went missing from her house in Chandrayanagutta on Sunday was found murdered near Gandipet. With the help of CCTV images, police arrested one Mohammed Akbar for killing the girl.

Shamshabad DCP Sunpreet Singh said "the girl, a resident of Bandlaguda, was studying in Class IX. Akbar who stays in the same colony trapped her in the name of love three months ago and promised to marry her. He also told her that they can elope and lead a happy life. At his behest, the girl left home on Sunday with gold jewelry and Rs 4,000 while her parents were away. When they returned home in the evening they found household articles scattered and gold and cash missing. They filed a complaint with Chandrayanagutta police and a missing case were registered. Around 4.20 pm on Sunday, Narsingi police found the body of an unidentified girl murdered in Srinagar colony near VIF College in Gandipet. Police identified suspect Akbar and arrested him."

DCP said “He admitted that he had taken the girl from her home and had gone to Gandipet on his bike. He said he took her to an isolated place near Gandipet and tried to have sex with her, but she refused. Akbar later took her to the bushes away from the road and pinned her to the ground. He gagged her mouth, tied her hands and hit her head with a stone. Later, he cut her throat with the knife which he had.  Akbar fled with the cash and gold that she had with her."

Based on CCTV footages corroborated by mobile phone tower locations, Akbar was nabbed. Police said that "charges of attempt to rape will be framed and those under the Pocso Act also will be added to the murder case against Akbar. He will be produced in court on Tuesday." Sources said "the girl’s father is an autorickshaw driver and her mother a housewife. She is the eldest in the family and has two siblings."
