Former Arunachal CM Commits suicide

In a shocking incident, Former Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Kalikho Pul committed suicide by hanging in official Chief Minister’s residence on Tuesday.

A top police officer said According “Pul (47) allegedly hanged himself from the ceiling fan in his bedroom. He was found dead at the chief minister's official residence which he was yet to vacate. One of his three wives found him hanging this morning. He is survived by three wives and four children.”

All the MLAs from ruling and opposition parties, ministers, friends and members of public rushed to the bungalow. The reason behind the suicide is not clear.

Pul was a MLA of Congress party and was appointed as Chief Minister on 19 February 2016. He served for four and a half months from February to July.

Police added “he had come to power after 12 Congress MLAs joined his camp who were previous supporting then chief minister Nabam Tuki. He reigned when the Supreme Court turned announced Nabam Tuki as the chief minister, who then made way for Pema Khandu as the 10th chief minister of the state. The BJP-supported Kalikho Pul government was unseated by this decision. He also served as the finance minister in Chief Minister Gegong Apang’s cabinet from 2003 until 2007.”
