The telecom operators and internet service providers (ISPs) are ordered by the central government to block 857 porn sites and are so blocked now.

In the past, the Supreme Court said that there would be no blocking on porn sites, as it would obstruct the citizen's rights, but now, referring to this, the users said that the officials blocked several sites which did not contain pornographic content. They are just taking child porn into consideration and blocking all the adult websites, which is literally being an obstacle for the citizens rights.
   
Responding to this, the government officials said that, denial of access of Department of Telecom (DoT) was temporary, insisting that it was a prelude to the creation of a regular regulatory oversight.

SC’s observations prompted centre to block 857 porn sites

“After the home ministry's failure in blocking child pornography, Supreme Court issued the directives and so we implemented it, there are no directives to block the privacy of the citizens” the government sources said.

Blocking all porn sites in step by step procedure

Though the officials said to block all the porn sites, the Telecom company executives said that, “the complete blocking of all porn sites, will be done in a few days, as the blocking of porn sites can be done, one by one.”

Should be made available to browse porn sites in bedrooms, but not in cyber cafes - DoT 

The DoT officials said that, it is illegal to obstruct the citizens' rights by not allowing to them to watch porn in house. The government should at least allow the public to browse porn sites in house and block in the public places like cyber cafes etc.

SC did not say to ban the porn sites

A few of the critics seriously said that, "a bench headed by Chief Justice H L Dattu had in fact pointed to the freedom enjoyed by individuals, but not by the Supreme Court entirely. What would the court answer if any citizen appears in the court and ask that how can they block his rights of watching porn in his bedroom?"  

Watching porn in public places will be embarrassing to the people around. So it would be better if the porn is seriously banned in public places. But no such ban can be imposed, while citizen browse the porn sites in their bedroom, as there might be many private reasons, they browse those for.
