AMRUT replaces JNNURM

The Narendra Modi government has reportedly decided to rename the 10-year old Jawaharlal Nehru National Urban Renewal Mission (JNNURM) and name it after the veteran BJP leader Atal Bihari Vajpayee. The Union Cabinet, chaired by PM Narendra Modi, has approved a proposal in this regard. The renewed scheme will now be known as Atal Mission for Rejuvenation and Urban Transformation (AMRUT). Like JNNURM, the renewed scheme will also be a 10-year program with an investment of around Rs 2 lakh crore. 500 cities and towns will be rejuvenated under this scheme.

AMRUT will primarily, include the major components of JNNURM scheme along with the inclusion of few new additions as prescribed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. JNNURM scheme worked on components like treatment of sewage and garbage, augmentation of water supply, building roads and flyovers, the new scheme will include digitisation and WiFi zones in the cities too.

The visionary government has taken many bold steps for the benefit of the people of this country. The previous government was very much interested in starting many schemes in the name of one family. The new schemes by this government have taken into consideration the various requirements of the citizens. In India almost all the schemes are named after one family, this can be experienced if one go through any schemes floated by the previous government. That time the government was not at all interested in the welfare of the citizens, instead they want to do memorials of one family. Even prominent freedom fighters like Sardar Patel, Subhash Chandra Bose, Bhagat Singh, Rajaguru, Tilak, Gokhale, etc are ignored.
