The All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen, in Hyderabad we call MIM party had made its mark in Maharashtra with victory in Byculla in Mumbai and Aurangabad constituencies. This victory will boost the MIM party's confidence and in fact the party won a seat additional than the so-called established party in the state, Maharashtra Navnirman Sena [MNS] which managed only one seat.
Byculla is a strong base of BJP and winning here means a lot to MIM. The party's Warish Yusuf Pathan won the seat with 25,314 votes over BJP's Madhukar G Chavan. Imtiyaz Jaleel, journalist turned politician, was elected from Aurangabad Central, defeating Shiv Sena candidate Pradeep Jaiswal by 30,000 votes. Aurangabad was the once part of Hyderabad state which was ruled by Nizam and MIM gained the confidence of the people here.
MIM got huge support from the sizeable Muslim population and also with major parties contesting alone, MIM was benefitted with this. With this victory MIM chief Asaduddin Owaisis is looking to expand the party more in the state and will go ahead with Mumbai Municipal Corporation, panchayats and zilla parishads in Maharashtra.
