Union Railway Minister Sadananda Gowda's son Karthik was charged with rape and cheating allegations by a model turned Kannada actress Mythriya Gowda. Ironically, Karthik got engaged just few hours before the allegations made it to the headlines of the TV channels. Actress Mythriya filed a complaint at the RT Nagar police and booked Karthik under Sections 376 (rape) and 420 (cheating) of the IPC. The police asked the complainant to undergo a medical examination which can provide certain evidence.

However, when approached Karthik was shocked to hear this news and denied all the allegations. He suspected it to be a conspiracy, trying defame him and his dad's reputation. “I feel hurt, my life is an open book. I will not lie or cheat public and it is kind of blackmail,” said Karthik.

The actress gave personal interviews to several regional news channels and few of them reported that she is a Congress worker.
