Gunman fires, loots Rs 5 lakh gold

A lone gunman from nowhere crept inside a jewellery shop, fired at the shopkeeper and looted Gold worth Rupees 5 lakhs.  This shocking incident happened on Monday in Chandigarh at the busy Sector 22-D market and ironically the shop is just yards away from a police station. All this was recorded in the shops CCTV and the police have deployed four separate teams to catch the culprit.

According to the first information, a man, wearing a cap and carrying a backpack, entered the shop and ask for a gold bracelet. Jewellers’ employee Paramjit Singh alias Sonu, who was alone in the shop, showed him one. Then the man asks to check the weight of the chain and Sonu moves towards the weighing machine. The man pulls up the pistol and aims at Sonu. But it gets jammed and so he removes another pistol, even that gets jammed. Meanwhile Sonu is still unaware of what is happening, the man manages to fire at Sonu and within seconds he collapses on the floor.

The accused packs three trays of gold in the bag and walks away while the neighbor shopkeeper walks in who heard the gun firing sound. After seeing Sonu bleeding, the shopkeeper alerts neighbors and rushes Sonu to hospital. As accused shot on head, Sonu's condition is critical and got a clot on the head.  The Police are in search of the culprit and thanks to the CCTV footage as the culprit's face is clearly visible.
