CNG and piped gas prices slashed

The union government today has slashed CNG (compressed natural gas) prices by Rs. 15/kg and piped natural gas  (PNG) have been cut by Rs. 5 per cubic meter. Oil Minister Veerappa Moily had announced this slashed prices and they will come in effective right away. The decision was taken to increase the usage of CNG in vehicle which are registering more pollution because of diesel.

Also the government will increase the availability of gas for the domestic users.  The oil minister said the government has decided to raise allocation of natural gas from domestic fields to city gas entities to 100 per cent from current limit of 80 per cent. This would be done by cutting supplies to non-core sectors like petrochemicals, steel and refineries.
