The one year anniversary of Jagan Mohan Reddy that we speak of is not a happy event that near and dear celebrate with pomp but his term in Chanchalguda jail, Hyderabad. It is now one year since he has been serving in prison after being arrested on May 27, 2012 when the CBI has taken custody of him regarding the illegal assets case.
The CBI alleged that he was accused of having disproportionate wealth in its lengthy chargesheet but nothing has been proven and pronounced by the court yet. It is not known whether Jagan is rightly accused or if this is merely some political conspiracy, but he has been in prison since a year.
YSRC leaders have no other explanation to his imprisonment than it being a politically motivated cheap trick which they claim to be undemocratic and unlawful.
YSRC party members decided to portray their protest with two day state-wide programmes on May 27 and 28. In Hyderabad, the main rally will be held at Necklace Road apart from the full day protests at Indira Park on Tuesday to press for its demand to expedite Jagan’s case.
With Jagan's bail petition being rejected by the apex court recently, YSRC leaders have no other way other than protests to have their voices heard. Their earlier beliefs of Jagan being out of jail by 2014 elections is closer to being a myth rather than a reality.
There is no second leader in the party if Jagan cannot lead the boat yet! What will YSRC fare in the general elections next year if their captain of the ship is not in charge yet?!
