Meiyappan arrested

Gurunath Meiyappan, CEO of Chennai Super Kings was taken by Mumbai Crime Branch in to their custody from the Mumbai Airport and questioned him for two and a half hours starting form 9.30pm and at the end of it he was arrested.

Meiyappan was to surrender to the Crime Branch at 5.00 pm yesterday for questioning as per the notice issued by them at his Chennai residence on Thursday at which time he was not available there.  The notice was given to the persons available at his residence asking them to convey that he has to surrender before 5.00 yesterday.   But Meiyappan took his own time to leisurely arrive at Bombay after a pleasure trip. The moment he landed in Mumbai airport, he was taking in to custody.

As announced by The Joint Commissioner of police (crime) Himanshu Roy, after interrogation and with the evidence available, they found that Meiyappan was guilty having involvement with the betting.

Vindoo son of late Dara Singh wrestler and film actor was arrested on the charge of having links with the bookies with whom he used to bet and to that extent he already admitted the offence.  Meiyappan was to be interrogated in the presence of Vindoo as per the original plan of the police but it was not revealed whether it was done like that or not.

Police have strong evidence that Vindoo and Meiyappan were in frequent touch.  They have some recorded conversations of these two.

Meiyappan is son in law of Srinivasan who is BCCI President who refused to resign after the involvement of his son in law Meyappan came to light stating that he has nothing to do with Meiyappan’s activities.  Meiyappan is also heir of AVM Productions being son of Bala Subramanian, owner of AVM Productions.
