The Supreme Court of India has barred N. Srinivasan from contesting the BCCI elections, who was allegedly involved in IPL Spot fixing and betting. This is a huge blow to Srinivasan who is currently the Chairman of International Cricket Council [ICC]. Also Supreme inducted Srinivasan's son-in-law Gurunath Meiyappan and Rajasthan Royals's owner Raj Kundra in betting which means the future of Chennai Super Kings and Rajasthan Royals is in doubt.
Further, the Supreme appointed a three member committee which decided the fate of Meiyappan, Raj Kundra, CSK, RR. The committee consists of ex-CJI R.M. Lodha and retired SC judges Ashok Bhan and R.V. Raveendran. The Supreme found fault in amending rules of BCCI, allowing the top administrator of the cricket body, get into commercial aspects of the game. In addition to this, Supreme clarified that the persons with other interest can't contest the BCCI elections.
On the whole, Supreme did not give any clean chit to to Srinivasan on issue of conflict of interest.
