PCI Chairman looking into South Indian cases

Press Council of India (PCI) Chairman Markandey Katju visited Hyderabad today to look in to some pending cases in four Southern States- Andhra Pradesh, Tamilnadu, Kerala and Karnataka. He was received with warm welcome by some press personalities.

Talking about the Journalists Katju announced that a committee will be formed to decide minimum required qualifications a journalist should have and the committee will be headed by Sravan Garg, a member of PCI.

Talking about the abduction of the Editor of Thinamani in 2011, Katzu demanded an immediate arrest of 30 police men involved in that action. He reminded that it is no more a British Raj. He also said that Jaya Lalita, Chief Minister of Tamilnadu should either adhere to the law or resign from her post.
