Karnataka chief minister Jagadish Shettar has said that Kaveri water would not be given to Tamil Nadu so soon. Even after Supreme Court ordering Karnataka for releasing water to Tamil Nadu, chief minister Shettar resisting the same has become a matter of controversy as it would amount to contempt of court.
Mr Shettar has said that he would go to Delhi with state water resources minister and seek advice from legal experts in the national capital region over the same. He said he would then take a firm decision. It is known that Kaveri water issue has been a like a burning pyre between Karnataka and Tamil Nadu states. While Tamil Nadu demands that water be allowed, Karnataka farmers-resort to protests-each time such demand raises.
