The Karnataka Government has started releasing Kaveri water to Tamil Nadu from last night acting on the orders of the Supreme Court. It has to be mentioned that Kaveri water dispute has been engaging the chief ministers of Karnataka and Tamil Nadu for quite sometime.  Recently when the talks between the two ministers failed, Tamil Nadu CM Jayalalitha decided to go to Supreme Court. Accordingly, the apex court (when Tamil Nadu approached it) gave interim order in the afternoon of Wednesday directing Karnataka Government to release water to Tamil Nadu.

The water department officials have said that they have released as many as four gates of Krishna Raja Sagar dam last night. As per the new orders of the Supreme Court, every day ten thousand  cusecs of water would be released to Tamil Nadu.
