Akbaruddin 'hate' speech attracts national ire!

Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (MIM) MLA Akbaruddin Owaisi's 'hate' speech has attracted ire nationally. Not only politicians even social groups have voiced their concern over the controversial statements made by the MIM leader at a mammoth gathering in Adilabad.

An alleged online video wherein Akbaruddin, who represents Chandrayangutta Assembly seat, was seen using inflammatory and derogatory words against a particular community, while addressing a public meeting (MIM Jalsa) at Nirmal town of Adilabad district, had been the reason.

In the state both Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy and BJP state supremo Kishan Reddy have expressed their dissent over the speech. An advocate Kashimshetty Karunasagar has filed a petition against the 'hate' speech by the leaders.

Social activist Shabnam Hashmi has filed a complaint in Delhi’s Parliament Street Police Station on the same issue. Several rights activists, including Dr. Asghar Ali Engineer and Ram Puniyani condemned his speech.

The speech available on the YouTube had gone viral. The Delhi complaint had been registered under section 153A of the IPC that pertains to cases related to, “promoting enmity between different groups on grounds of religion, race, place of birth, residence, language, etc., and doing acts prejudicial to maintenance of harmony.”

While in the Hyderabad complaint,  Karunasagar, in addition to section 153A has also added section 295A (deliberate and malicious acts, intended to outrage religious feelings of any class by insulting its religion or religious beliefs). The case came up for hearing on Wednesday (January 02). The VII Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate court had reserved the orders for today. (Wishesh AarKay)
