The sudden death of Konda Laksman Bapuji is a real setback to the age-old Telangana struggle. The doyen who had fought for the rights of the people since the Nizam's is no more. He died in the early hours of the day after ailing for some time, in his residence in Hyderabad city. The Telangana leader fought for the separate Telangana state carved out of the unified Andhra Pradesh in an amicable way. He conducted consensus on the issue after holding debates at various place of the state. The debates had leaders of all the three regions of the state. He believed that there is a need to divide the state in a peaceful and amicable manner.
Many leaders expressed their heart felt condolence to the 97-year old departed leader's family. In fact he was just a week away from his 98th birthday, which was on September 27. He is survived by two sons and a daughter. The struggle for the separate state under his aegis was by taking the consensus of all the stake holders of the state.
He participated in the Quit India movement in 1942, in the 1952 Non-mulki agitation and 1969 Telangana Agitation. He was a minister and resigned in 1969 for Telangana cause. The sole difference of the veteran was his vision for an amicable settlement of the issue, rather than fighting it down.
