This is a new format introduced for the morning (IST) readers, quick updates of the state in general which are not pertaining to any political or entertainment events. Hyderabad: Twin Cities celebrate 'Vara Lakshmi Pooja' in most temples and at homes. Most Goddess temples in the city and on the whole in the state are spruced up with festive decorations. The Friday before the 'Pournami' (full moon) in the month of 'Shravan' is celebrated as the 'Sravana Sukravaram.' The celebrations are mainly women oriented and they pray to  the Goddess Lakshmi to bless the family with abundance and prosperity.

Vishakapatnam: Meteorological announcements for the day suggest that the entire state might experience moderate to heavy rain fall on Friday. The rains are due to the existing monsoon troughs added to the a mild cyclone called 'Dhroni.'

Srikakulam: Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy will be in the district and participate in the welfare schemes initiated by the government as a part of 'Indiramma bata.'

Vijayanagaram: Lorry turns turtle, three people are feared killed and four injured.  On the Pusapatirega high way, a lorry lost control and turned turtle, in the early hours of the day.

Vizag City: An old lady killed for jewels in the dawn hours of the day. In the peaceful locale of MVP Colony, lone old lady was attacked by miscreants  who brutally killed her before stealing her valuables.
