The annual fish prasadam given by Bathini Goud family has got underway. The fish prasadam has been administered in Hyderabad annually for the past few decades believing that it would cure respiratory ailments especially asthma. Earlier called as fish medicine, the fish prasadam attracts lakhs of people from across the world. Just like every year, the first day of fish prasadam evoked overwhelming response.

Fish prasadam this year is being given on June 8 and 9. Every year, exhibition grounds used to be the venue but since other programmes are being conducted over there, the venue this year has been shifted to Kattedan area in Hyderabad.  Notably, thousands of people arrived at Kattedan area last night itself and had been waiting at the gates. The gates were opened in the morning and fish prasadam distribution started at 8 AM.

Security arrangements:

Tight security arrangements have been made in and around Kattedan area in view of fish prasadam administration. Traffic restrictions came into effect from Friday morning.

What is fish prasadam?

Bathini Goud family never revealed the formula of their prasadam. They earlier used to call it as herbal medicine and now they call it herbal prasadam. The thick yellow paste made from some herbs will be stuffed into the mouth of a fingerling and the same fingerling will be asked to swallow by the visitor/patient.

Free prasadam:

Fish prasadam will not be charged by Bathini Goud family. They call it as service. However, live fingerling will not be given by Bathini family. So, one needs to purchase a fingerling from the fish vendors on the premises.
