AP power crisis: KTPS develops Tech Snag

Andhra Pradesh in dire power crisis receives another jolt with almost 620MW production suspended. Last night a technical snag in one of the KTPS units, led to a tripping of power production. The state received a 620MW loss in its production. That simply means more power cut on the anvil. The state is already reeling under heavy and unscheduled power cuts, is bound to get more with this event. In Khammam district the KTPS unit in Paloncha town developed a technical snag say sources leading to drop in production.

As per the sources, Kothagudem Thermal Power Station (N 7) unit 11 developed a technical snag. In the seventh unit of the O&M setup a boiler tube leakage led to technical snag in the condenser of the sixth stage in Unit -11. Due to this the units were tripped off. This led to the drop in production. As a part of capacity addition programme, APGENCO has taken up 500 MW for Kothagudem Thermal Power Project Stage-VI at Paloncha in Khammam District as an expansion project adjacent to the Kothagudem Stage-V.
