Bangalore special CBI court today remanded illegal mining scam accused and former Karnataka Minister Gali Janardhan reddy to CBI custody till March 12 in connection with the illegal mining case registered against the Associated Mining Corporation (AMC) and Deccan Mining Syndicate (DMC) owned by him.
Earlier, he was produced before the court amid tight security after being brought to the city from the Chanchalguda jail in Hyderabad.
He was brought to Bangalore after the city CBI wing filed the case against him, his wife and 20 others in connection with the illegal mining undertaken by the Associated Mining Corporation (AMC) and Deccan Mining Syndicate (DMC) owned by him and his family members.
Former minister and Congress leader V Muniyappa and few other officials are also listed as accused in the illegal mining case.
Advocates fight with media persons
A group of advocates objected to the filming and photographing of Janardhan reddy being brought to the court by the media and fought with journalists at the court’s complex. The pitched battle resulted in injuries to a camera-journalist.
Protesting the attack on journalists, media persons later staged a demonstration at the court premises. CM D V Sadananda Gowda asked the law minister to inquire into the incident. (J)
